Which style of trip is right for me?
We offer three styles of travel: Guided, Flex-Guided and Self Guided. To find out which one has ‘Me’ written all over it, scroll down to check our trip styles page.
Are trips physically demanding? Activity Levels
Each trip comes with a Physical Rating (Easy/ Moderate/ Difficult).
Easy
These walks don’t require any special preparation although you should be reasonably fit. The best choice for families with young children or travelers with little or no experience walking.
Daily Hours: Up to 4
Walking surfaces: Gentle with some uneven terrain
Distance: Max 10 km

Moderate
Ideal for walkers who are fit enough to manage more steep terrain and longer distances. Multi-day walks at this grade demand a good level of fitness.
Daily Hours: Up to 6
Walking surfaces: Hilly with some steep/uneven terrain
Distance: Max 20 km
Challenging
For experienced hikers good level of fitness and experience is required. Multi-day with longer walks and steep ascents.
Daily Hours: Up to 7
Walking surfaces: Hilly to mountainous with some steep/uneven terrain
Distance: Max 30 km
Training Tips
Depending on the activity level of your tour, we suggest that you prepare for your tour for at least 4 weeks before your trip, to start adapting your body.
- 5-10 minutes of stretching to prevent injury.
- Dress in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- During exercise drink plenty of water so that you stay well hydrated.
- When possible walk on varying terrain and hills.
- When training try to use the walking sticks.
How is the weather in Portugal or Galicia?
March, April, May, June, September and October are the ideal months for a walking holiday in Northern Portugal and Galicia. July and August are usually the hottest months, with temperatures regularly over 30 degrees Celsius.
In spring and autumn, there is always a chance of experiencing some rain and possibly windy on the coast.
What is the Time Zone?
Portugal: Western European Standard Time (GMT)
Galicia: Central European Standard Time (GMT +1)
Azores: Time zone in Azores (GMT-1)
Electricity
220 volts is used in Portugal with two round prong plugs for the outlets. Make sure you have the proper adapters.
Passport and Visas?
A passport is required for visitors from countries outside the EU. Please check the requirements with your embassy or consulate. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct and valid travel documents, authorizations and visas for your holiday. Travelers from EU countries don't need passports or require a visa.
How to pack?
Some basic items: Hiking boots, Day pack 20-30 liters, comfortable hiking clothing, Lightweight waterproof jacket, Lightweight waterproof over-trousers, T-shirts and/or casual shirts, Sunhat, Light fleece or warm jumper​, Water bottle 1 liter, Personal Basic First Aid Kit, Trekking poles (optional)
Do you have support during all tour?
Yes, we provide 24/7 phone support, from the beginning to the end of the tour.

How does luggage transfer work?
Leave your luggage at the accommodation reception before departing to your daily hike. Our team will collect and deliver your luggage to the next accommodation. Full instructions and a personalized tag will be included in the travel documents.
What are the payment options?
We accept payment from all major credit cards (through a secure link) and bank transfer.
What are your payment terms?
After confirmation, we will request a deposit. The final payment should be made at least 30 days before your arrival date
What about cancellation policy?

More than 30 days before the expected arrival date – 10% of the total cost

From 29 to 15 days before the expected arrival date – 50% of the total cost

Less than 15 days before the expected arrival date – 100% of the total cost
When do I receive the route notes, gps tracks and maps?
After the final payment you will receive by email your personalized route notes and gps tracks.
Please note that at your arrival a member of our team will join you for the meet and greet. During this briefing the maps, luggage tags for transfers and other extra info will be delivered to you.
Do I receive a printed version Route Notes?
Only on request, we strongly recommend using a digital version. Think before printing.
Should I get travel insurance?
We recommend you play it safe and purchase travel insurance before your holiday.
Tipping?
Tipping is accepted but is not mandatory in Portugal. Tipping is entirely voluntary and should be done at your discretion and as a reward for quality service.
